What is ROAS?
ROAS stands for Return on Ad Spend. It measures how much revenue you earn for every euro spent on advertising.
Formula: ROAS = Revenue from ads ÷ Ad spend
Example: You spend €1,000 on Google Ads and generate €4,200 in sales. Your ROAS = 4.2× (or 420%).
ROAS measures revenue vs ad spend only. ROI includes all costs (product cost, shipping, staff). A 4× ROAS might mean positive ROI or a loss depending on your margins. Always know both.

Why is my ROAS low? 7 most common causes
- Wrong keywords — broad match keywords attract irrelevant searches that waste budget
- Weak landing page — sending ad traffic to a homepage that doesn't match the ad message
- Poor ad copy — generic ads with low CTR increase your effective CPC
- No negative keywords — you're paying for searches that will never convert
- Wrong bidding strategy — using manual CPC or maximize clicks when you should be using Target ROAS
- Broken conversion tracking — campaign thinks it has zero conversions so smart bidding can't optimize
- Wrong audience targeting — showing ads to people who will never buy from you

How to improve ROAS: step by step
1. Fix conversion tracking first
Before optimizing anything, verify that your conversions are being tracked correctly. Use Google Tag Manager and check that form submissions, phone calls, and purchases are all firing. Broken tracking = broken optimization.
2. Remove wasted spend
Add negative keywords aggressively. Review your Search Terms report weekly and exclude anything irrelevant. For most accounts we audit, 20–35% of spend goes to searches that can never convert.
3. Match landing pages to ads
Every ad group should link to a dedicated landing page that matches the ad's headline and offer. Sending "dentist Barcelona prices" searchers to your homepage homepage loses 60–80% of potential leads.
4. Switch to smart bidding
Once you have 30+ conversions per month, switch to Target ROAS bidding. Let Google's algorithm optimize for your revenue target. Most accounts see 15–40% ROAS improvement within 6–8 weeks.
¿Qué es el ROAS?

Що таке ROAS?
ROAS — Return on Ad Spend
